My new life :)
Author: WillIn the past two weeks, my life has dramatically changed in a great way! I finished my last full semester in college (I am taking one final class this Spring to finish my degree), moved out of Milledgeville and into my Dad’s house, started my corporation, and got a ‘real’ job.
The name of my new corporation is WG International, Inc. This is the company I will be running my photo business through as well as any other business ventures I decide to pursue (which will be many). Through this company, I will be working for The Decisive Moment and The Orange Block.
The Decisive Moment is a Wedding Photography company that I have recently started working for. All of my weddings will now go through them. So if you or any of your friends are in the market for a wedding photographer, be sure the check me out there!
The Orange Block is an Education Marketing photography company based in Atlanta, Ga. I have assisted for these guys on a bunch of edu shoots and have had a blast, now I get do it on my own. This should be a lot of fun. Again, if you know any schools that might need some photography be sure to send them this way!
ShootQ is innovative online photography studio management software and I have recently joined their team as the Customer Service Manager. This is an amazing opportunity for me to develop my business skills with some great business people and get a salary while I build my photo business. Be sure to go have a look at the website and see what you think. If any of you guys are photographers, you really should check out the site.

Author: wg photog
Back on April 28, Ben (my roommate) and I set out to find a photo themed “GROWTH” near my dad’s house in Cleveland, Ga. Due to the language of the contract for the contest, I was not able to post this image until after the final jugding took place else I might be disqualified. So here it is at long last. I decided to satirize the theme when we happened upon this phone booth at the Blood Mountain Store north of Helen, Ga.

My flight from Atlanta got in at about 12pm Cali time, so I am officially at the Sports Shooter Academy III! If you missed my post a few months ago about the Academy, you can read more here. I took a nice small nap thanks to my 7:45am departure time, but all is well. I just got done with an early bird digital workflow session where they went over PhotoMechanic in detail and the workshop officially kicks off at 7:30pm tonight. Below is a link to the images I am going to get the faculty to critique here before this things really gets started; well if they have time. Look for more posts soon.Pre SSA III Portfolio

I got accepted to the Sport Shooter Academy!!!! But, I didn’t get into the Eddie Adams workshop. Oh well, I think that SSAIII is going to be much more useful with all the hands on experience that I will gain from this workshop. It is Nov. 1-5 in Orange County, Calif. We will have press credentials for NCAA D-I Sports with some amazing sports photographers going with us just so we can pick their brains. Plus, there are lots of lectures and classes and amazing people to ask all the questions I want. I am SOOOO excited!! (By the way, this is an old photo, but I thought it was apporiate for the post)Read more about the workshop here.

Author: wg photogI decided to make a nice SoundSlide of my Eddie Adams Portfolio instead of having people look at it on my facebook account. Like I said, I used a program called SoundSlides to make this; I won a free copy at the Southern Short Course this year. Plus, since I am a photojournalist, I thought the song was apporiate. Let me know if you have any comments about the SoundSlide, I am thinking about doing most of my site with them.Eddie Adams Portfolio 2006

WILLIAMFrom the Germanic name Wilhelm, which was composed of the elements wil “will, desire” and helm “helmet, protection”. The name was introduced to Britain by the Normans. It has belonged to several rulers of England, Prussia, and Germany, including William the Conqueror, the first Norman king of England. Another famous bearer was William Tell, a legendary 14th-century hero from Switzerland. In the literary world it has been borne by dramatist William Shakespeare and poet William Blake, as well as contemporary authors William Faulkner and William S. Original Date/TIme: 2:48pm Saturday, April 8, 2006This week has proven to be pretty hectic for me. Last weekend, I got the chance to photograph a great Jazz Trumpet player, Byron Stripling, during the GC&SU Jazz Band performance. Then, immediately following the concert on Friday evening, Brittany and I left for Spartanburg, SC for the Southern Short Course in News Photography. This was a great experience for the both of us. We learned about lighting and sports photography as well as listened so some of the best photojournalists speak about their most recent work. Plus this trip was very lucrative for us both as well; Brittany won a copy of Apple’s Aperture (a $500 professional photography program) and I won a copy of Soundslides (a quick and easy multimedia slideshow program that I will be using to revamp the slideshows on my main site). Finally, this week has been pretty busy school-wise and yesterday I spent some time working for LaCour in their studio putting together some wedding albums. Keep checking back often to keep up with me if you like.
